Brandon continues to adapt quickly to life aboard a Kawasaki ZX-6R

Brandon Schmidt has made it four top eight finishes from the first four races of his 2026 EuroMoto Kawasaki ZX-6R campaign after two spirited rides in the latest round of the series at the Brno Circuit in Czechia.

Brno, a challenging and iconic circuit for anyone who knows motorcycle road racing is one of the longest circuits used for modern day domestic and international competition, providing the #13 Kawasaki rider with a great opportunity to further hone his big bike skills in his debut season in the Kawasaki ZX-6R Cup.

A fourth row start for the German teen, after qualifying eleventh, Brandon made another of his customary fast starts ensuring he gained several places on the opening lap in race one on Saturday. An equally impressive fast start on Sunday, followed by a faster race pace than on Saturday meant he left round two with solid points for the championship having taken 8th and 7th respectively.

He now sits seventh overall in the championship, just two points behind sixth, after the opening two rounds and is very much looking forward to further progression towards the front of the field when the series resumes at Autodrom Most for round three in the middle of June.

Brandon Schmidt: “I ended eleventh overall after the two qualifying sessions. I started well in race one and was immediately up to I think fifth or sixth on lap one but then there was a bit of chaos, and I couldn’t work out where I was running. My dad told me after the race that I improved my lap time by sixth tenths so even in the group this is really encouraging. There were two groups and I was leading the second group most of the time. I crossed the line eighth which was a good improvement. I made another good start in race two compared to the others, not perfect but good. The feeling was much better, and I was able to improve the lap time by eight tenths. Brno is quite a long track so to have been able to improve so much over the weekend gives me a lot of confidence. The race itself was a big fight which was nice. On the last lap I was able to overtake and I ended P7. I was a little sick during the weekend, so given the circumstances I am leaving Czechia happy with what I was able to achieve, and I am looking forward to the next round.”
